You can now get a taste of Android 7 Nougat on the OnePlus 3

An unofficial CyanogenMod 14 build (based on Android 7.0 Nougat) has been put together for the OnePlus 3, giving its users a chance to get a taste of Android 7.0 before it becomes officially available for the flagship phone.

The ROM comes courtesy XDA Developers user Taker18. Since it’s a very early build, you should expect to have some (maybe more than just some) bugs on the ROM, which hopefully will get ironed out with updates.

OnePlus X picks up manual camera mode in latest OxygenOS update

It’s been just over a month now since we first saw OnePlus begin making available OxygenOS 2.2.0, initially releasing the system software as an update for the OnePlus 2. There the release delivered the company’s latest bugfixes and tweaks, expanding access to removable USB storage, and correcting some issues with dual-SIM settings. It was all well and good, but what about the OnePlus 2’s little brother, the super-affordable OnePlus X? It’s taken some time to prepare 2.2.0 for the five-incher, and we’re only just now about to see it head out, as OnePlus lets us know that the incremental rollout of OxygenOS 2.2.0 for the OnePlus X starts today.

What’s new? Well, just like with the 2.2.0 update for the OnePlus 2, we’ve got plenty of bugfixes and performance optimizations, as well as the latest security updates. But beyond all that, we do see some actual new features, and the most notable ones there concern camera operation.

OnePlus X on the receiving end of another OxygenOS update today

If you’re a OnePlus X owner with the phone running OxygenOS, keep an eye on the notification bar for there’s going to be an update about a new OTA that’s rolling out for the phone.

You’ll be running OxygenOS 2.1.3 after the update. Before you get too excited, let me tell you that this is only an incremental update, so don’t expect too much out of it. As for the Android version, it’ll still be 5.1.1 Lollipop.

OnePlus Mini specs leak via AnTuTu

OnePlus has gone on record as saying that the company looks to release a new smartphone just in time for the Christmas season. Carl Pei, interviewed at the time about the new smartphone in an interview, said that he didn’t know whether it would be a high-end smartphone or not, so eager tech enthusiasts couldn’t get a hint as to what the device would be. Now, however, it seems as though OnePlus wasn’t joking about that before-Christmas device, which could be called the OnePlus Mini.

New specs leaking from AnTuTu show the OnePlus Mini with an “A2301” model number, Full HD display with a 1920 x 1080p screen resolution, 2GB of RAM (registered as 1.9GB in AnTutu), 32GB of storage, 13MP back camera, a MediaTek MT6795T processor, and a PowerVR G6200 GPU, running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The A2301 model number is placed beside “OnePlus,” telling us that this is indeed a new OnePlus smartphone.

OnePlus 2 release date, news and features

Latest update: A new picture shows a super slim all-metal OnePlus 2, but if you're hoping it will be as cheap as the OnePlus One you might be out of luck. Original article below...
The OnePlus One came out of nowhere as the first product of a new company, but it didn't disappoint, thanks to high end specs and a surprisingly low price tag.
One of the biggest complaints we could level at it was how hard it was to get hold of at launch and when that's the biggest problem a phone is facing you know you've got a winner on your hands.
But while there were no expectations for the One hopes are sky high for the OnePlus 2, so it's got a lot to live up to. The fledgling company is confident however, saying "instead of merely being on par with the flagships of 2015, we want to show our industry buddies the way forward." Even more intriguingly the OnePlus 2 is apparently set to 'surprise people'.

OnePlus’ announcement for June 1 will ‘shake up the tech industry’

OnePlus has announced in true OnePlus fashion that the Chinese company is going to ‘shake up the tech industry’. To be very fair, that is something their first and only phone yet — the OnePlus One — did also.

There’s no word on what the event will see, but we doubt if it’ll be the OnePlus Two. The OnePlus Two (or whatever the company chooses to call it) will come in the third quarter this year, so there’s at least a couple months to go before that.

The teaser depicts a half-erased image of a OnePlus One and reads ‘Time to change’. ‘Time to change’… could it be a OnePlus Smartwatch? Rumours of a device like that did show up at a point in time but seem to have died down since. Speculations around the announcement also include the possibility of a OnePlus One price cut (wouldn’t that be cool?).

Thankfully though, there’s less than a week to go before we come to know. Let us know what you expect to see on that date!

OnePlus to launch another device on 28th May?

On 28th May OnePlus will release Hydrogen OS for the OnePlus One, and also a new product that could be a new device.

We already know that Hydrogen OS will make an appearance at the end of the month, but now we see a mystery OnePlus box has been shown on Weibo possibly indicating a new product launch.

There is a lot of speculation about what could be inside the silver OnePlus box. Could it be a new OnePlus smartphone, an accessory for the current OPO, or is it simple a box for an invitation?

16GB OnePlus One price cut in China to just 1499 Yuan

Since the OnePlus One has been on sale for over a year now and a replacement is in the wings the price of the current 16GB model has been slashed to just 1499 Yuan in China.

When launched the OnePlus One cost just 1999 Yuan in China. At the time of launch, early 2014, this was a great price for a 5.5-inch FHD flagship with 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 801 and Sony IMX214 camera, but these days the price isn’t quite so competitive.

Cyanogen Inc. to OnePlus: We’re done

What started as a truly promising project in December of 2013 is dying an unexpected death, or so it appears. The OnePlus One may have been endlessly criticized for being more hype than substance, but I’m sure many would agree, the One was one of the best phones at the time of its launch, and until a few good months after that.

The fact that the OnePlus One came with the Cyanogen OS undoubtedly was one of the most compelling features of the device. The market had hordes of powerful phones that came OEM skinned ROMs, and offered next to nothing when customizability was the focus.

Needless to say, the OnePlus One was a smashing hit. It turns out the company itself did not see the demand coming; that’s something that added to the misery of OnePlus back when it had to keep convincing potential buyers about ‘the next batch of OnePlus Ones’ that was about to be ready for shipment.

The phone got so popular that OnePlus almost didn’t have to spend cash on marketing, which was, in a way, self sustaining. In fact, OnePlus officials famously said once that they started out with a total marketing budget of just $299.

OnePlus cuts accessory prices by %50 for one year anniversary

Celebrating their first year anniversary, OnePlus have cut the cost of accessories by %50.

Following on from their recent announcement to scrap the invite system for the OnePlus One, but not up coming OnePlus models, the phone maker has reduced the cost of OPO accessories by %50.

Flip covers can now be had for as little as 6.50 Euros, Tempered glass protectors for 5.80 Euros and even the JBL E1+ earphones have been slashed from 36.99 Euro to just 18.50 Euro.

OnePlus are also holding a competition to celebrate their landmark offering Sandstone Black OPO bundles up for grabs.

OnePlus bid adieu to invites, for good this time

The OnePlus One was one of the best phones from 2014, but it had its own share own controversy thanks to the crazy invite system.

However, a little less than a year since its announcement (the phone was announced April 23rd, 2014), the company has revealed that the phone will finally be available invite-free. Up until now, since a couple of months or so, the phone had been having weekly invite-free Tuesdays.

OnePlus will announce ‘something’ in a couple of days

OnePlus is one of those companies that are hard to ignore. They only have one phone in their kitty yet, and yet they manage to be in the headlines each time (for wrong or for good).

This time round, it is because they’ve been sending out invites for the launch of ‘something’ this April 20th… which is just a couple of days from now. What could it be? It most likely won’t be the OnePlus Two, which according to company CEO Pete Lau is a few months away from now. Having faced a lot of criticism for delaying OnePlus One shipments last year, one would imagine that they would shy from showing off the device now, with a good few months before actual shipments go out.

CyanogenMod 12S for the OnePlus One passes certification, to seed over the ‘next few days’

The OnePlus One has unfortunately been riddled with controversy and delays, and the postponed release of the Lollipop based CyanogenMod 12S is the latest mishap.

However, in what is seen as respite for OnePlus One owners, company co-founder Carl Pei tweeted that the CyanogenMod 12S update had received certification and that it would seed to OnePlus One devices over the next few days.

OxygenOS finally released and available to install

If you are enjoying a long weekend for the easter and you have a OnePlus One then why not spend a few moments installing the much anticipated OxygenOS ROM?

With the OnePlus and CyanogenMod relationship on a seemingly rocky road, it meant that smartphone maker was in dire need for its own Android ROM to run on the flagship killer and up coming Android devices.

The result is OxygenOS, a ROM designed and developed from the OnePlus Team (after hiring key Paranoid Android members) for use specifically on the OnePlus One.

OnePlus drone confirmed, launching next month!

OnePlus has been a rather radical manufacturer, not only with its only phone, but also with the marketing strategy it chose to follow.

According to a OnePlus employee and co-founder, the company will be releasing a drone next month. OnePlus has extensively been teasing a new product for April, and thanks to a Reddit AMA that the company hosting a while back, it is now known that the new launch will be nothing but a drone.
