Both IUNI and Meizu have cut prices of popular device in China, but the clear winner in the price war is the IUNI U3 at incredible 1399 Yuan!
IUNI, a relatively new brand with 4 phones to their name, have joined a price war against Meizu today, but it is clear who is going to win the battle! Meizu recently dropped the price of their 16GB Meizu MX4 in China to 1499 Yuan, a saving of 300 Yuan over the launch price.
But it is IUNI that have really been generous. In an announcement today IUNI have dropped the price of their IUNI U3 to just 1399 Yuan! This is an incredible price.

Meizu not only launching a new phone! Router, watch, power bank and more rumoured
Meizu have posted new teasers today which point at a up to 4 additional accessories that might be unveiled during the 2nd June launch.
Right at the start of June Meizu will be hitting Beijing with a new product launch. We feel fairly certain that the highlight of the event will be the release of the 2nd generation Meizu m2 note with physical home button but that’s not all.
In addition to the new mid-range Mediatek powered phone Meizu might also have a few accessories to show us too.
New teaser published earlier today hint at a possible Meizu route, power bank, air purifier and even a smartwatch or wearable.
If this is the case then Meizu are once again taking Xiaomi’s lead! Xiaomi already have a couple of routers on sale, they also have an air purifier, a range of power banks and the Mi Band wearable.
Meizu have also dabbled in accessories in their launches too. We saw the a drone at the MX4 launch which didn’t go on sale, a WIFI router which also doesn’t seem to have sold and a watch by InWatch which was terrible! Let’s see just howe well these up coming accessories are adopted by fans.

Leaked photo shows Meizu Note 2 running Android 5.1
Well that didn’t take long! Just moments after the announcement of next months launch a leaked photos of the Meizu Note 2 has surfaced.
The leak comes from reliable Weibo user @ubuntu, who in the past has successfully uncovered accurate details of Meizu phones plus LeTV details ahead of launch. The details that the tipster has for us today is a singe photo of a phone named the Meizu Note 2 along side the Meizu MX4 Pro.
Just a quick glimpse doesn’t give away much but taking a good look at the design of the new Meizu Note 2 and the OS the phone is running reveals a few interesting clues.
First of all the home button on the Note 2 has been redesigned to be more rounded and more visually appealing than the MX4 Pros rectangle button. Interestingly Meizu had said in the past the reason for the rectangle was to allow the internal fingerprint scanner to be more accurate as it has more surface area to work with. So either this means that the Meizu Note 2 has a new scanner or no fingerprint scanner at all!
Taking a look at the OS itself and it is clear that the fingerprint security menu is missing from the version of Flyme on the Meizu Note 2 while it is visible on the MX4 Pro. We can also see that the Meizu Note 2 is running Flyme based on Android 5.1 Lollipop which could simple mean that the development hasn’t finished and fingerprint recognition hasn’t been added at this time.
Whatever Meizu have planned we only have until the 2nd of June to wait. Keep posted for more Meizu news.

China gets the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition for 1799 Yuan
Today, Meizu in China have announced that the Ubuntu Meizu MX4 will cost 1799 Yuan and will be up for sale shortly!
Last week we reported that Meizu would release the much-anticipated Ubuntu Meizu MX4 today, and just like clockwork this is exactly what has happend. So far only the Chinese Meizu website is showing the launch announcement but we believe that Meizu international will also announced the same news later today on Facebook.
The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu edition is a joint effort between Meizu and Canonical and the first Meizu phone to run a Ubuntu and available to the public. The MX3 also had an Ubuntu model but it was never released for sale.

Meizu to finally announce something in India on 18th May, and we think it’s the m1 note
Meizu has for a while been active on its social streams in India. There was also a bloggers meet that was hosted in Bangalore sometime back, but no real announcements were made as such.
Today however, the company shared a rather cheesy render to tell us about the fact that there’s going to be something announced on the 18th of May. And because Meizu had earlier given away that the first phone they launch in India would be the m1 note, we believe the 18th will see the launch of the phone.
Coming to the render that was shared, it reads ‘Are you ok?’. If you aren’t aware, this is the phrase that went viral after Lei Jun’s speech in India during the Mi 4i launch, something that also made him the butt of many jokes.
Meizu MX4 Pro discontinued! Could the MediaTek investment have something to do with this?
A Meizu forum reveals that the most powerful of the recent lot of phones from Meizu, i.e., the MX4 Pro has been discontinued.
The MX4 Pro was announced a little after the initial MX4, which in itself was quite a success. We don’t really know why the phone is discontinued, but the development has been officially confirmed by the company. What is encouraging though is the fact that the MX4 Pro will continue to receive software support from the company.
This comes right around the time when rumours and leaks around the next Meizu flagship — the MX5 — are starting to show. From what we’re hearing, Meizu will be a little early this time in bringing the flagship phone for this year, which could possibly be within the next two months.
Also, if you connect the dots, the idea of MediaTek pressure arises in your mind. If you aren’t aware, MediaTek recently announced it would be investing in the smartphone maker; the MX4 Pro that is the current Meizu flagship, comes with a Samsung Exynos processor… which could be a last.
We hope the MX5 just doesn’t end up being a filler for the MX4 Pro just with a different processor.

Android 5.0.1 Lollipop for Meizu MX4 Pro steps closer
Android 5 Lollipop is still missing from Meizu’s range of current devices, but new screenshots confirm that at least the MX4 Pro is being ran on 5.0.1 in China.
The leaked screenshot comes form an Antutu V5.7 benchmark ran on a Meizu MX4 Pro running an unreleased version of Android 5.0.1 Lollipop for the phone. Only the ‘details’ screenshot has been released so we don’t know how well optimised the system is.
Last month a Flyme roadmap was released confirming when each current Meizu phone would expect to receive a Lollipop update.
The roadmap has the MX4 Pro due an update this month, with the MX4 around the same time. The Meizu MX2 and MX3 will come in May with the M1 and M1 note in June.

Meizu preping 10,000mAh powerbank for launch
Meizu are following Xiaomi’s lead (once again) and are preparing to to release an affordable powerbank of their own.
Shown in early leaked photos, the Meizu powerbank takes a lot of its design and specification highlight right from Xiaomi’s very first battery pack offering. As you can see in the photos, the battery is a rounded rectangle and from the printed details it says it has a capacity of 10,000mAh.
The image also shows a set of LED lights which should indicate the amount of charge in the battery pack and a USB plugs for charging and devices and recharging the pack.
Meizu aren’t the first to enter the battery pack market, ZTE have also released similar accessories and it is rumoured Mlais are about to do the same.

Meizu m1 note 32GB listed on on India’s Snapdeal with a hefty price tag
The Meizu m1 note is among the best phones in the sub-$200 category as our review suggests, but it appears as though the device isn’t going to be that affordable in China’s neighbouring market of India.
Meizu only recently gave itself a ninja launch in India, but is yet to make any formal announcements… including those about device. Which is why, I’m a little apprehensive about this listing, but nonetheless: the Meizu m1 note has been listed on domestic Indian shopping portal Snapdeal.com. The device is listed for a hefty 34,999 INR which translates to over US$550.
