Huawei Mate Book announced, here’s what you need to know
Huawei has just unveiled the Huawei Mate Book at MWC, and it’s their very first 2-in-1 Windows 10 device as well. Let’s take a closer look at the specs and features of this brand new device and how it stands out from the competition.
The Huawei Mate Book comes in several different variants with differing specs all around. All come with a 12-inch 2160×1440 IPS LCD display, but that’s where the similarities end. The devices can have either 4GB/8GB of RAM, 128GB/256GB/512GB of internal storage, and an Intel M processor. The tablet is also the second Huawei device to come with a USB-C slot after the Nexus 6P.

Honor 5X looks like it’s just about to finally get Marshmallow
How long after the debut of a major new Android release does it become acceptable that new handsets arrive with that latest software present? We’re not clueless to the realities of the software development process, and all the testing and re-testing that goes into getting a new release ready for a particular smartphone. Development pipelines are easily months, if not years long, and when a new Android version pops up just weeks before a new phone comes out, we’re not about to start making unrealistic demands.

Ultra-low-cost Huawei Honor 5X launches in multiple European markets on February 4
When Huawei announced plans for the US expansion of the budget-focused Honor sub-brand, it wasn’t immediately clear if certain North America-only phones would be designed, or if the love would be spread to the old continent as well.
But at least the Honor 5X is headed for Europe in addition to the United States, at an as-yet undisclosed price. It can’t be more than €250 and £250, though, and there’s reason to hope for a tag as low as €/£200.

Huawei Nexus getting the gold treatment, leaked render shows 4 colour options
The Huawei Nexus is a device that has really got me all a buzz, and with the purported launch just days away more renders of the device have managed to surface.
Huawei building a Nexus phone is incredible for someone like me. When I started GizChina, there was no way I would believe that just 6 years later Chinese phones were going to be at the forefront of innovation, and even leading the market with flagship Nexus mobiles. That time has come and I get a little tingle each time I think about it!

Huawei's Nexus will come with an Android app store for China
We first heard rumours that Huawei is in line to produce the new Nexus back at the end of February, and since then plenty of anonymous sources have been queueing up to confirm such a device is indeed on the cards.
This weekend there's another report that a Huawei-made Nexus is indeed on the way, with an extra tidbit of information - the companies are also busy working on an Android app store for China.
The Google Play Store isn't available in China due to government regulations, with Android users having to turn to third-party libraries for their apps. It sounds like Google wants to fix this with Huawei's help.

Huawei D8, P8, Honor 7, Mate 8 and 4 more models launching this year!
Huawei are reported to have 8 new smartphones in the works according to a leaked roadmap. Details of the models after the jump.
Early today we posted a road map with 4 new Xiaomi phone models listed for release before the end of the year. While those devices are interesting they aren’t all that relevant to phone fans outside of Xiaomi’s launch zones, on the other hand the Huawei models posted on the same roadmap are likely to be available.
Huawei apparently have 8 models to Xiaomi’s 4, those induce the Huawei Ascend D8, Huawei Mate 8, Huawei Honor 7 and 3 other Huawei Honor models.
The first model is set for release later this month (May). According to the roadmap (hope you have your salt shakers ready) the Huawei Ascend D8 will boast a 5.5-inch 2K display, metal body and Hisilcon processor.

Huawei P8 and P8 Lite cases show us more physical details
This week is Huawei’s big launch week with the Huawei P8 scheduled to launch in London alongside a budget friendly P8 Lite. We turn to Chinese case manufactures to uncover a few more details.
Huawei don’t have the same sort of pull as Samsung and Apple, even in China, so when we search for cases on supplier websites only a few show up, but they have enough details on them to appear to be genuine.
First up is the black Silicon case which appears to have been designed for the top of the range Huawei P8. The case features a cut out in the rear for a fingerprint scanner below a cut out for the rear camera on the top left rear of the phone.
The base has 3 holes, 2 for the dual speakers and the center for micro USB, or perhaps even USB C connector.

Huawei SnapTo on sale for $180 on Amazon, but there are better deals
Huawei have launched another low-cost phone on Amazon for international buyers to pick up direct, but with a little shopping you can find better at a lower price.
At $180 the Huawei SnapTo is a budget phone, and easily undercuts the majority of Android handsets available in store in Europe and the U.S, but as fans of all Chinese tech we know that the SnapTo isn’t as great a deal as it could have been.

Huawei Mediapad X2, LTE tablet
Huawei’s latest tablet isn’t much larger than the biggest flagship phones and you can even make phone calls on it? Is this really a small tablet or a large phablet?
In the past we had seen Android phone makers blur the lines between tablet and phablet, but we though we may have finally put those days behind us until we entered the Huawei media city at MWC.
The Huawei Mediapad X2 is the 2nd generation Mediapad and features a more glamorous gold finish which matches the Huawei Mate 7, oddly enough this tablet almost matches the Mate 7 in size too.

MWC: Huawei Watch could cost as much as $1000!
While I visited the Huawei booth at MWC this week, the design of the product quizzed me on what pricing I thought would be reasonable for their new Android Wear device, but I was not expecting a price as high as this!
I managed to test the Huawei Watch under the watchful eye of one of the designers of the product, and was asked plenty of questions, but price seemed to be the one that he really focussed on. When asked on price I told him honestly that customers would expect the cost to be similar or slightly less than the Moto 360, his answer was “LESS?”.
