6.9mm Vivo Y27L launches in India

The stylish entry-level Vivo Y27L is now available in India for 12,990 INR or US$196.

If you’ll be purchasing the Y27L, it’s more the style and form that you’ll be paying for than the specifications. That’s because what’s inside the Y27L is fairly in-line with phones half its cost.

The Vivo Y27L has a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720p display; a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor along with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of ROM; an 8 mega-pixel rear camera, 5 mega-pixel front facing camera, and lastly, a 2260mAh battery.

Looks like Vivo have confirmed Retina Scanner on the Vivo X5Pro

There have been rumours that the Vivo X5Pro will come with a fingerprint scanner under a glowing logo, and rumours of retina recognition. Vivo’s latest teaser seems to confirm the latter.

Vivo are synonymous with bring the latest tech advances to the Android smartphone market. They were one of the first manufacturers of super slim phones and currently hold the title for the worlds thinnest smartphone. They were also one of the first companies to use a fingerprint scanner, and they were ahead of the pack with the 2K display on the Xplay 3S back in 2013 (yet it was that long ago).

Their next trick is to bring the latest security technology to the upcoming Vivo X5Pro. It had been rumoured that Vivo might use a retina scanner for locking the X5Pro and certain applications, and now it looks as though they have confirmed that rumour with the above image.

In the post on their Facebook, Vivo tell us to “forget fingerprints” and that the X5Pro will let us “Enjoy the safest access to your app anytime with a glance!”.

It hasn’t been confirmed with technology Vivo will be using as there are currently a couple of options to choose from. ZTE have a scanner that works with the front facing of some of their devices. Vivo could certainly make this work and might partially explain the reason for a 32 mega-pixel front camera. The other method of retina unlock would be the Fujitsu model with IR scanner shown at MWC this year.

Vivo will announce the Vivo X5Pro later this month in China. Keep posted for more news.

Purported Vivo Xshot3 photos and specification leaked

Vivo are focusing on teasing their Vivo X5Pro, but is that really the only phone the Chinese phone maker have? Leaks of the Vivo Xhot3 suggests no.

Vivo have been teasing details of their upcoming Vivo X5Pro. Those official teasers point at long battery life a 3D curved display and advanced camera features.

So while Vivo have been talking about the X5Pro, what have the tipsters been looking at? Today’s leaks claim to show images of the next generation Vivo Xshot, the Xshot3.

In the images the device has a similar camera design to the Xshot but on the left side rather than the center. An rounded alloy chassis looks more comfortable than the current Xshots and retains a physical shutter button.

Unlikely renders of the Vivo Xplay 5S published

Ok so we don’t feel these images show the real Vivo Xplay 5S but from following the brand false leaks mean that the real thing is on the way.

Vivo have a long long reputation for keeping fans guessing up until the last moment, and they have been quite successful in keeping their designs a secret until the day of launch.

All Vivo major Vivo launches do have something in common though, they are preceded by the release of a lot of renders showing devices completely unlike what the final product looks like (remember the Vivo Xshot renders?).
